Why Most Freight Forwarders Can't Handle DG — And We Can
📄 IATA Certified Team
Our in-house DG handler holds a valid IATA Dangerous Goods certification (valid every 2 years). We conduct proper MSDS reviews, UN number verification, packaging inspections and DGD preparation — no corner cutting.
🚢 Carrier Contracts That Accept DG
We maintain direct contracts with Maersk, MSC, ONE, CMA CGM and Emirates SkyCargo — carriers that actively accept Class 8 (corrosives) and Class 9 (batteries) DG. This lets us pass through competitive rates that third-party brokers can't access.
📦 Packaging & Labeling Expertise
UN specification corrugated boxes, inner packaging, absorbent material, proper DG hazard labels, handling labels (THIS SIDE UP, LITHIUM ION BATTERY) and shipper declarations. We inspect every pallet before loading.
UN Classes We Handle
Class 9 — Lithium Batteries
UN3480 (loose), UN3481 (in equipment), UN3090 (metal), UN3091 (in equipment). UN38.3 report required. Air + Sea options.
Class 3 — Flammable Liquids
Paints, varnishes, solvents, adhesives, alcohol-based products. Proper UN corrugated packaging with absorbent material.
Class 8 — Corrosives
Acids, bases, cleaning chemicals, battery electrolyte. Requires steel drums or UN spec jerry cans.
Class 4 — Flammable Solids
Matches, fire extinguishers, pyrophoric substances, self-heating materials. Special handling needed.
Class 5 — Oxidizers & Peroxides
Hydrogen peroxide, bleach, fertilizers, pool chemicals. Strict separation from organic cargo.
Class 2 — Gases
Compressed, liquefied and dissolved gases. Sealed pressure vessels, proper labeling.
Documents We Need From You
Before we can book your DG shipment, we need: MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) — Section 14 (Transport Information) must include UN number, proper shipping name, hazard class, packing group. UN38.3 Test Report for lithium-ion battery cargo. Product photos showing current packaging. We then generate the full Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) for carriers, handle IATA Shippers Declaration for air freight, and prepare proper UN specification packaging advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What DG classes do you handle?
All UN Classes 1-9, with focus on Class 9 lithium-ion batteries (UN3480/UN3481), Class 3 flammable liquids, Class 8 corrosives, Class 5 oxidizers and Class 4 flammable solids. We do NOT handle illegal or extremely hazardous items (radioactive Class 7 highly restricted).
Do carriers refuse lithium batteries?
Most forwarders can't ship UN3480 because carriers either refuse or charge 2-3x surcharges. We hold contracts with Maersk, MSC, ONE and Emirates SkyCargo that accept Class 9 DG at standard rates. We require UN38.3 test report and MSDS before booking.
What documents do you need?
MSDS (Section 14 transport info required), UN38.3 test report for batteries, product photos. We generate: Dangerous Goods Declaration, IATA Shippers Declaration (air), carrier DG booking confirmation, and UN spec packaging guidelines — all included in your quote.
How much extra does DG cost?
DG surcharges vary by UN Class, carrier, routing and season. We provide one all-in quote including base freight, DG surcharge, proper packaging and documentation — no separate invoices.
